Connecting Job Seekers with Employers

Whether you’re looking for work, returning to employment, thinking about a change or wanting to build your confidence and skills, employable can help you work out your next step.

Based in Nelson, we’ve been supporting people across Nelson Tasman for more than 25 years.

Today, our work includes MSD-funded Supported Employment, ACC Occupational Assessment Services, and free Employment Readiness & Skills Development for the wider community.

Each service works a little differently, so have a look below to see what may be right for you.

Supported Employment

Our Supported Employment service is funded by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and is available to eligible people with disabilities and health barriers.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. We work alongside each person based on where they are now, what they want to achieve and what support would be most useful.

This may include:

• exploring work options and identifying strengths

• looking and applying for jobs

• preparing or updating a CV and cover letter

• interview preparation and practice

• connecting with employers

• support when starting a new job

• ongoing support to help someone stay in employment

We also work with employers to understand what they need and help create employment opportunities that work well for both the person and the workplace.

Employment Readiness & Skills Development

Want some practical help getting ready for work? You don’t need to be an existing employable client to take part.

From October 2026 to August 2027, we’re running a free Employment Readiness & Skills Development Programme for the Nelson Tasman community.

This programme is separate from our MSD-funded Supported Employment service and there are no eligibility criteria. Anyone who would benefit is welcome.

Our Employment Readiness sessions are held at 14 Nile Street West, Nelson, every Monday except public holidays.

You can get practical help with things like:

• working out your next steps and employment goals

• preparing or updating your CV and cover letter

• finding and applying for jobs

• preparing for interviews

• building confidence and practical skills for work

We also hold a free workshop each month, with a different topic covering areas such as employment, recruitment, workplace skills and personal development.

The programme is proudly funded by Pub Charity Limited and The Lion Foundation, allowing us to offer it free of charge to our community. Spaces are limited. To find out more or book a place, contact Kate at ekaterina@employable.co.nz

ACC Occupational Assessment Services

employable is an approved provider of ACC Occupational Assessment Services.

This is a referral-only service. Clients are referred directly to employable by ACC, so you do not need to contact us to self-refer for this service.
